Raleigh, home to the North Carolina State Capitol and the NC State Wolfpack, is considered by many to be the “Smithsonian of the South”. Sure the city hosts a ton of art for you to marvel at, but there’s one piece in particular we call our favorite. That of course is the official cocktail of Raleigh: the Cherry Bounce.

This drink has been served in the city since the 1700s and became such a crowd pleaser that government officials decided to make it the official drink of the city. It’s even been said that the Cherry Bounce was George Washington’s favorite drink. It doesn’t get more American than that folks.

The original recipe includes brandy and a ton of sugar, but that’s not really something you want to drink a bunch of on game day. Instead, we’re featuring a more modern version of the cocktail that you can binge on all day. And when you drink too much, just boot and Raleigh (shut up that was perfect).

Ingredients

  • 1.5 shots cherry vodka
  • 2 shots cranberry juice
  • 1/2 ounce lime juice
  • club soda
  • Maraschino cherries

Directions

  1. Pour the Vodka, Cranberry Juice, and Lime Juice into a shaker.
  2. Shake.
  3. Pour over ice.’
  4. Fill with Club Soda
  5. Garnish with Maraschino Cherries

Cheers to Game Day!
